Jeff Hardy has announced his move to AEW after months of speculation. Hardy was let go by WWE in December after a highly publicized incident at a house event in which he departed a bout early by exiting through the audience. Due to his departure from WWE, Hardy is subject to a non-compete clause that lasts until March 9th. He will then be free to contract with another wrestling promotion.

Hardy has been speculated to be joining his brother Matt in AEW, while no official confirmation has been given. Jeff, on the other hand, seems to have validated the claims. Hardy reportedly revealed at one of his gigs that he is “going to AEW,” according to Jared Myers.

Jeff Hardy says, “I’m going to AEW. I’m so excited, until this morning I didn’t really know…. I’m so nervous and excited.”

Despite Hardy’s December dismissal from WWE, the company recently offered him the chance to return and be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame class. Hardy, on the other hand, refused the offer.

AEW has hinted about Jeff Hardy’ arrival in past

During the Keith Lee vs. Isiah Kassidy bout on the February 9th episode of AEW Dynamite, an unmistakable reference was made in Hardy’s direction. Matt Hardy abandoned Kassidy during the fight by leaping the ringside guard rail and fleeing into the crowd. According to the narrative, he was irritated by another bad performance by one of his protégés.

The remark to Jeff, however, came with Matt’s withdrawal from the ringside area. This is precisely what Jeff Hardy performed during his last WWE bout in early December at a home event in Edinburg, Texas.

Tony Schiavone even made a direct mention of the occurrence during Dynamite commentary, calling it an “erratic” action. Hardy’s conduct was described as “erratic” at the time of his WWE exit, according to reports. During a Twitch broadcast in January, his brother Matt came to his brother’s defense, suggesting that WWE “may have jumped the gun” with Jeff’s release.
