However, she was beaten by Ekaterina Alexandrova 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 and she failed to win the crown. At the Tallinn Open, Ostapenko will begin her campaign against the seasoned veteran Kaia Kanepi.
Kanepi’s last competition was the 2022 US Open earlier this month which saw her reach the second round. The 37-year-old defeated Tereza Martincova in the first round but was beaten by sixth seed Aryna Sabalenka in the second. In Tallinn, the veteran will look to prove her mettle.
Jelena Ostapenko and Kaia Kanepi are scheduled to face each other in the round of 32 of the 2022 Tallinn Open on Wednesday, September 28. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 19 and end on October 2.
The 2022 Tallinn Open is scheduled to commence on September 26 and go on until October 2 this year. The tournament will have five rounds of play excluding the qualifiers. These are the round of 32, round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals.
