Alexander Bublik and Emil Ruusuvuori are scheduled to face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 ATP Moselle Open September 22.
In the first round of this week’s ATP Tour main draw, Alexander Bublik made things difficult for Evan Furness. He fell short after leading 4-1 in the opening set, but he battled back twice to win the match, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6. These concentration lapses are typical of the big-serving Kazakh, and they prevented him from capturing his second ATP crown in Newport a few months ago when he blew a set and a break advantage against Maxime Cressy in the final.
In this week’s first round, Emil Ruusuvuori easily defeated Jiri Lehecka to end his three-match losing streak on the main tour. The Finn youth turned things around by claiming commanding victories against the inexperienced (at the highest level) Isaac Becroft and Kiranpal Pannu in the Davis Cup last week. He had ended the summer hardcourt tour with three straight losses. Early in his career, the World No. 51 played dominant tennis on indoor hard courts on lower-level circuits, and in 2020 he even had his first-ever quarterfinal (and semifinal) appearance on the main tour at an indoor tournament in Nur-Sultan. However, he only played one match on the surface in 2022 this past week after going 5/6 on it in 2021.
Alexander Bublik and Emil Ruusuvuori are scheduled to face each other in the round of 16 of the 2022 ATP Moselle Open on Thursday, September 22. The tournament is scheduled to begin on September 19 and end on September 25.
