Zlatan Ibrahimovic once said, “There is only one Zlatan.” And I don’t think I need to testify that statement. We all know that there is indeed only one Zlatan. I am sure if we even open up a dictionary to search for words like “egoistic” or “pompous”, Zlatan’s name would appear right next to them, for no other player is as boastful as this 6 foot 5 inch Swedish man. And mind you, I say that with utmost respect for the player, who is also of the belief that being egoistic is also a quality, which is something I agree with.

Currently a striker for Serie A side AC Milan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is of Swedish origin and was born in Malmo, the largest city in the Swedish county. Known to be one of the greatest strikers the footballing world has ever seen, Ibrahimovic has a total of 31 trophies to his name, with a career spanning over two decades now. Born to Bosniak Muslim father, Sefik Ibrahimovic, and a Croat Catholic mother, Jurka Gravic, the Swedish player is 40 at the moment but shows no signs of slowing down, unlike most other players who usually hang their boots by the time they hit 35.

Club and International debut

Malmo FFMalmo had Ibrahimovic sign a contract with the club in 1996. The player rose through the ranks at the Swedish club and made his debut with the senior team on 19th September, 1999 in a game against Halmstad at 17 years of age.

International debut: Although he was eligible to play for Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina or Croatia at the international level, Zlatan opted to don the Swedish shirt. His debut for the Sweden national team came in what was a friendly game against the Faroe Islands on 31st January, 2001, with the match resulting in a 0-0 draw.
